SecondChance Collective is a marketplace for pre-owned fashion in Jordan. We hold the money until both sides are satisfied, and otherwise stay out of the way.
The problem we started with
There is a great deal of genuine luxury sitting unworn in wardrobes across Amman, and a great many people who would happily buy it. The two rarely meet, and when they do it usually happens through a direct message and a bank transfer to someone you have never met.
That arrangement fails in both directions. Buyers cannot tell a real bag from a convincing counterfeit from photographs, so they either overpay for certainty at retail or take a risk they cannot assess. Sellers with genuine pieces are treated with the same suspicion as anyone else, so they discount heavily or do not bother.
Neither side is being unreasonable. The information simply is not there, and no amount of trusting language in a listing supplies it. So nothing here is final until the buyer has looked at the item.
What we do about it
We put the money in the middle instead. The buyer pays through the platform, the seller is not paid up front, and the two of you meet for the handover. The buyer inspects the piece in person before accepting — and if it is not as described, or not genuine, it goes back and they are refunded in full.
That is the whole mechanism. It is not clever, but it is the part that cannot be faked with copywriting, and it is what lets a stranger’s handbag be worth real money to someone who has never met them.
How we decide things
See it before it is final
Nothing is final until the buyer holds the piece. A badge that only means “the seller says so” is worse than no badge, so we let you inspect the real thing before the money moves.
Hold the money until it is right
The seller is paid when the buyer accepts the piece, not when they post it. That single rule removes most of the reason people are afraid to buy second-hand luxury from a stranger.
Price set by owners, not by us
Sellers price their own pieces. We show what comparable items recently sold for so the number is informed, then stay out of it.
