Terms of service

The agreement between SecondChance Collective, buyers and sellers: what each party promises, and what happens when something goes wrong.

Draft version 1 · Last updated 21 September 2026

1. Agreement to these terms

By creating an account, listing an item, or buying an item on SecondChance Collective ("the Platform", "we", "us"), you agree to these Terms of Service together with our Seller Agreement, Privacy Policy, Authentication Policy and Refund & Dispute Policy (together, "the Policies"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

When you tick the agreement checkbox at sign-up, that acceptance is recorded as an electronic signature under Jordan's Electronic Transactions Law No. 15 of 2015, which treats a properly logged electronic acceptance as legally binding.

2. What SecondChance Collective is

SecondChance Collective is a peer-to-peer marketplace for pre-owned and vintage bags, womenswear, menswear, shoes, watches, jewellery, accessories and vintage pieces in Jordan. We provide the platform, payment handling and a review process for listings, but the contract of sale for each item is between the buyer and the seller — not with us — except to the extent Buyer Protection (Section 7) applies. We are not a consignment shop and, other than through our listing review, we do not take physical possession of items before a sale.

3. Eligibility and your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract under Jordanian law to buy or sell on the Platform.
  • One account per person. Accounts are personal and may not be transferred or shared.
  • You need a valid Jordanian mobile number to register, and you are responsible for keeping your login details and password secure.
  • The information you give us — including your name, phone number, city and area — must be accurate, and you agree to keep it up to date.
  • We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms, is used fraudulently, or where we reasonably suspect a listed item is counterfeit or materially misrepresented.

4. Listing an item (sellers)

Listing is free. Photos, size, colour, material, condition and price are provided by you, the seller, and you are responsible for their accuracy. In particular:

  • Photos must be genuine photographs of the actual item you are selling — not blurry or out of focus, not screenshots from Google, Pinterest or another listing, and not stock or catalogue photos standing in for the item.
  • You must state whether you have the original receipt and the original packaging.
  • Before publishing, you actively confirm: “I confirm that this item is genuine to the best of my knowledge and that the information and photographs submitted accurately represent the item I am offering for sale. I understand that Second Chance may request additional evidence, reject the listing, or suspend my account if the item is suspected to be counterfeit or materially misrepresented.” This confirmation is recorded against your account and submission.
  • Every submission is checked by our review team before it goes live — see our Authentication Policy for what that review does and does not cover. We may reject a listing, hold it back for more evidence, or remove it at any stage, including after it is live, if something looks inconsistent.
  • You confirm that you own the item, or are otherwise entitled to sell it, and that selling it does not infringe anyone else’s rights.

5. Prohibited items

You may not list:

  • Counterfeit, replica, or “inspired by” items, or anything you cannot honestly represent as genuine.
  • Stolen goods, or items you do not have the right to sell.
  • Items whose sale is restricted or prohibited under Jordanian law.
  • Items that infringe someone else’s intellectual property or a brand’s trademark.
  • Hazardous, recalled, or unsafe items.

Listing a prohibited item may result in the listing being removed, related funds being withheld, and your account being suspended or closed.

6. Buying an item

  • There is no shipping on the Platform — buyer and seller arrange handover directly and in person, within Jordan.
  • Payment is made through the Platform, by CliQ or cash on handover, using whichever method the listing supports.
  • Prices are shown in Jordanian Dinar (JOD) unless stated otherwise.
  • You are encouraged to inspect an item carefully at handover before accepting it — see Section 7, Buyer Protection.

7. Buyer Protection, payments and payouts

  • When you buy an item, your payment is held by the Platform rather than paid to the seller immediately.
  • At handover, you have a window (currently three days) to inspect the item and either accept it or raise an issue. Once you accept it, or once that window passes without an issue being raised, payment is released to the seller.
  • Buyer Protection is provided at no extra cost to buyers and does not reduce a seller’s payout.
  • Sellers are charged a flat platform fee of 12% of the sale price when an item sells; your first two sold listings are free of this fee. There is no charge to list, edit or relist an item, and payment processing is covered by us.
  • Payouts are made to a Jordanian bank account or by CliQ to your registered mobile number, once released as above.

Full detail on returns, refunds and how disputes are decided is in our Refund & Dispute Policy.

8. Authenticity, reviews, and what we don’t guarantee

  • We are a marketplace, not a physical authentication service: our review is based on the photos, descriptions and evidence a seller submits, not on physically examining the item before it is listed.
  • Our team checks listings against brand, construction, identifiers and seller-evidence criteria before they go live, and can reject or remove a listing at any point something looks inconsistent.
  • This process reduces risk, but it is not a guarantee that any item is genuine, and it does not replace your own judgement — inspect the item at handover, and use Buyer Protection if something is not right.

Full detail is in our Authentication Policy.

9. Reviews and ratings

Seller ratings and reviews left by buyers must be honest accounts of a real transaction. We may remove a review that is abusive, fake, or unrelated to the transaction, and may take action against an account found to be manipulating ratings.

10. Intellectual property

The SecondChance Collective name, logo and site content belong to us or our licensors, and you may not use them without permission. By uploading photos or descriptions when listing an item, you grant us a licence to display, reproduce and use that content on the Platform and in our marketing, for as long as needed to operate the Platform and reasonably afterwards for record-keeping.

11. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Platform for anything unlawful or fraudulent, or to mislead another user.
  • Take a transaction that started on the Platform off-platform to avoid fees or Buyer Protection.
  • Interfere with the Platform’s security, scrape or harvest data, or attempt to access another user’s account.
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse another user or our team.
  • Misrepresent your identity, or hold more than one account.

12. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close your account, or remove a listing, at any time and without notice where we reasonably believe these Terms, the Policies, or Jordanian law have been breached — including where an item is suspected to be counterfeit or materially misrepresented. You may close your account at any time, subject to completing any transactions already in progress.

13. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee that listings are error-free, that the Platform will be uninterrupted, or that every item is exactly as described — while we run the checks set out in Section 8, the underlying representations about an item are made by the seller, not by us.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Jordanian law, SecondChance Collective is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from your use of the Platform, or from a transaction between a buyer and a seller, beyond the specific remedies set out in our Refund & Dispute Policy and Buyer Protection.

15. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify SecondChance Collective against claims, losses or expenses arising from your breach of these Terms, your listing, or your conduct on the Platform, to the extent permitted by law.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new effective date; continuing to use the Platform after a change takes effect means you accept it. Where practical, we will flag material changes more prominently.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Any dispute that cannot be resolved through our Refund & Dispute Policy process is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Amman.

18. How this fits with our other policies

These Terms work alongside our Seller Agreement (detail for sellers), Privacy Policy (how we handle your data), Authentication Policy (what our review process does), Refund & Dispute Policy (returns and disputes) and Cookie Policy. Where a point is covered more specifically in one of those, the more specific policy governs.
